What’s in My Beach Bag

Summer is just around the corner and it’s almost time to pack up your beach bag for a day filled with your toes in the water and salt in your hair! Before you head off, you’ll want to have some essentials packed for a perfect beach day- check out some of our personal necessities!

  • Sunscreen

No one wants to start their summer season off with a bad sunburn so the first and most important thing we want to have in our bag is sunscreen! We are loving the lightweight formulas of Bask, Kinfield, and, our tried and true, Banana Boat. Whatever sunscreen you choose to use, remember, that SPF 30 is recommended for minimum protection!

  • Books

The tranquility of the waves and the steady beating of the sun makes the beach a perfect place to crack open a good book! Some of our favorite books that take place at the beach include “Beach Read,” by Emily Henry, “Malibu Rising,” by Taylor Jenkins Reid, and “Winter in Paradise,” by Elin Hilderbrand. If these books can capture the summer mindset during all months of the year, we can imagine that they must be even better when read on the sand!

  • Sunglasses

Sunglasses are not only a cute beach accessory but are also crucial for providing UV protection for your eyes. UV rays can cause cataracts and prolonged damage to your eyes, so try to wear shades that are equipped with 100% UVA and UVB protection. With so many stylish and protective styles of sunglasses out there, there is no reason not to pack your sunglasses for a beach day!

  • Towel

Whether you are planning on diving into waves or lounging on the sand, a towel is the ultimate beach day necessity! Some of our favorite towels come from SlowTide because not only are the designs fun and unique, but they’re also 100% cotton (perfect for lounging) and super absorbent (perfect for swimming)!

  • Snacks

Snacks are arguably the most important item to pack for a beach day! We always like to bring some fruit because it is refreshing and hydrating after being in the sun all day– especially pomegranates, mangos, and blueberries. Chips and dip are always a hit too, but we are especially partial to tortilla chips and guacamole. No matter what snacks you choose to pack with you, remember to stay hydrated as well!

Some other ideas of items to bring with you include a speaker (for those feel-good summer jams), a hat (protect your face from those harsh rays), and a water bottle (we are all about staying hydrated)! The NUMBER ONE beach day necessity isn’t one that you will pack in your bag, but rather wear– it’s your ByLil Bikini!
